We recently went on a socially distant COVID-safe weekend getaway to Fort Bragg, California, a small beach town on the Northern Californian Coast in Mendocino County. We planned to spend most of our time at the beach and exploring outdoors, so I planned comfy and cozy outfits. Unlike some Southern California beaches, the Northern Californian Coast is cold. We were there at the end of August, and the temperatures were in the 60s.
What I Packed
I tried to pack relatively light since we only went to Fort Bragg for a long weekend. We mostly planned to spend time playing in the sand and exploring outdoors while we were in town. Since we were in the middle of a pandemic and Californian restaurants were only allowed to serve outdoors or provide takeout, I didn’t bring a separate outfit for dinners.
I packed mostly casual clothes that were easy to layer and hang out outside. What I brought:

- Four bottoms (one pair of black denim shorts, one pair of denim cutoff shorts, one pair of jeans, one pair of leggings)
- One dress
- Two pair of Shoes ( Birkenstocks and Madewell White Sneakers, I also meant to bring my Hunter Boots, but I forgot to pack them)
- One purse and one backpack
- necklace
- Sunglasses
Outfits I Wore
Outfit #1
I wore a dress in the car for a few reasons: my period came early, I wanted to be comfy on the drive, and the temperature outside would be in the 90s for most of the road trip.
When we arrived in Fort Bragg, it was 60 degrees, so I threw on my denim jacket for warmth.

Outfit #2
On the first full day in Fort Bragg, we woke up and went downtown to grab donuts before playing in the sand at the beach. It was only supposed to be a high of 65, so I wanted to dress in layers. I hate wearing pants on the beach, so I wore shorts and sandals with a long sleeve tee and a jacket.
I think this was one of my favorite outfits, and if we lived in a beach town, this outfit might be my go-to. Later that night, when we went to pick up dinner, I switched the shorts to jeans.

Outfit #3
Sweater: Target | Shorts: American Eagle | Sunglasses: Amazon | Backpack: Beis
Sandals: Birkenstocks
The next morning, the kids woke up and wanted to go to the beach before exploring for the day. It was sunny but cold, so a sweater and shorts were called for.
Outfit #4
Jacket: Gap | Flannel Shirt: Quince | Shorts: Old Navy | Sandals: Birkenstock | Backpack: Beis
I wore this to walk around Fort Bragg’s downtown and explore the tidepools. Mask because it was the summer of 2020.
