Rowan was the worst sleeper. I think he spent most of the first year of his life sleeping in bed with Brady and I. When I was pregnant with Piper, I prepared myself not to sleep for a year and then we got the DockATot. I had seen the DockATot all over social media and I thought it would be a good place to set Piper down for a little bit. I was wrong. The DockATot is a magical baby bed that helps my baby and ultimately me, sleep.
DockATot: Giving Babies and Parents the Gift of Sleep

Its been about a month since I gave birth to Piper and started using the DockATot. Brady will tell you its the best thing ever. We mainly use the DockATot as a co-sleeper in the middle of our queen bed. Its a little tight, but Piper sleeps 3-4 hours at night in it. Rowan used to wake up every 2 hours, so we’ll gladly sacrifice space for longer stretches of sleep.
What is the DockATot?
If you haven’t heard of the DockATot, you might be living under a rock. It’s all over social media these days. In short, the DockATot is a multi-use baby lounger that can be used for co-sleeping, lounging around, and even playtime. I even took the DockATot on our recent trip to Hawaii. Designed to create a snug womb like feeling for a baby, the DocATot provides a safe space for baby to be set down. There’s two sizes: the Deluxe for babies 0-8 months and the Grand for babes and toddlers 9-36 months. Designed in Sweden and handmade in Europe, the DockATot is all natural, 100% cotton, and tested for breathability.
Co-sleeping with The DockATot
Before Rowan, I don’t think I thought about co-sleeping. When we had Rowan, we decided to co-sleep because it was the only way I would sleep too. As we were getting ready to have Piper, I knew I wanted to have something that would make co-sleeping more efficient and safer for us. On the DockATot’s website, it is recommended that the baby lounger is placed in the middle of the bed near the top. I think Piper has slept in it almost every night so far. We’ll see what happens when we try to transfer her to a crib in a few months, but at least we know she’ll always have a safe space in our bed.
Traveling with The DockATot
I’m a crazy person and I traveled with Rowan and Piper when Piper was only 3 weeks old. I knew I had to find a way to take the DockATot with me. DockATot does make a travel bag, but I ended up being able to fit it in my large suitcase with all of our clothes. Having the DockATot with us made traveling with a newborn a little less stressful. I knew where she was sleeping and I knew that I would have a safe place to set her down while we were in our rental house on the island. I would have gladly paid for a second checked bag if I had to. The DockATot was a lifesaver.
Cleaning the DockATot
If the baby is in there is a chance that leaks of some sort will happen. Thankfully, the DockATot cover is completely washable in the washing machine. Just unzip the cover and throw it in the wash. After the wash cycle, leave it to air dry. I’m considering getting a second cover, so I don’t have to wait for the cover to dry to use it again.
DockATot Forever
I plan on using the DockATot Deluxe until Piper grows out of it and then I plan on getting the DockATot Grand. I only wish that I could go back in time and try out the DockATot with Rowan!
