Summer is coming or maybe the summer heat has already made it self known. Whatever the case, maybe like me, you have no idea what you are going to wear. Maybe it’s time for a Summer Wardrobe Challenge!
Your Summer Outfits Made Easy

Last summer, I had trouble with my wardrobe because I had just had Piper. This summer, my body is still adjusting to life after pregnancy. I’m still holding on to extra weight because of breastfeeding and so some things just fit awkwardly.
Putting together outfits have just been tough and shopping for new pieces to add into my closet have been even harder.
I recently was introduced to Get Your Pretty On, where Alison Lumbatis helps women create capsule wardrobes piece by piece through her guides and style challenges!
In a few days, on June 10th the Summer 2019 Capsule Wardrobe Challenge begins with the first style prompt! By joining the challenge for $39.99, you gain access to shopping lists, style prompts, suggestions on how to wear items, and access to a private Facebook group community where you can ask questions or share outfit wins!
Why I love the Summer Style Challenge
What I loved about the materials for the Style Challenge is that you can take the suggestions and make it your own. This outfit I put together using the style prompts included an additional kimono. I decided to leave out the kimono because I wore them so much last spring/summer and it was 100 degrees when I took these photos. But for me leaving out the kimono worked. It would be easy to add a kimono, a summer sweater, or even an oversized button down shirt as a layering piece as the prompt suggests.
The Style Challenge Takes You Out of Your Comfort Zone
Would you believe that I have a hard time wearing just a t-shirt and shorts? I felt like I wasn’t put together enough. But with the style prompts it teaches how to add accessories to jazz up a simple outfit. My accessory of choice is a hat, but the materials also list different fun bags, colorful shoes, and jewelry.
The Style Challenge Makes You Look at Your Closet Differently
The pieces that are featured are staples with a few trendy pieces. Before shopping online, shop your closet first, you may be surprised by what you already have. For me, I found this white shirt that I bought a few months ago at Madewell. But I never wore and I don’t know why. So I dug it out for the prompt that featured a white tank top and now I’m kind of obsessed with it.
The Style Challenge Shopping List is so helpful
When you do have to go out into the wild (online or in store), Alison Lumbatis has created detailed shopping lists with substitutions to fit your style and needs. I love the idea of using a shopping list to fulfill the holes in your wardrobe. There are so many times I shop and find a great piece, only to realize I have something similar already. Shopping with a list for clothes and accessories is a much more productive task than shopping freely. Especially when you need to build your wardrobe again.
The Style Challenge Teaches How to Build an Outfit
The style challenge from Get Your Pretty On writes out a detailed style prompt for each day with options to customize the look in your own way and every prompt comes with an outfit photo. It’s your own personal Pinterest fashion board. But Get Your Pretty On has given you the tools to actually create the outfits in a simple and organized matter.
The Private Facebook Group is Amazing
When you join the Style Challenge with Get Your Pretty On, you are able to access the private Facebook group was specifically created for the Summer Style Challenge. It’s an amazing community of women supporting each other, asking questions, posting photos, and sharing wins.
I really liked what Alison had to say about these style challenges
“Style Challenges by Get Your Pretty On is like meal planning…for your closet! First you get a shopping list of classic basics and seasonal trends. Most women shop their closets first. You can then fill in the blanks at your favorite stores that fit your size and budget. Each piece on the list is paired up in at least 4-5 ways so you get the most bang for you buck! After you have your pieces in place, you get a different outfit idea created from the pieces on the list sent to your inbox daily so you know exactly what to wear every day. You get a monthly outfit calendar you can print and hang in your closet or download to your phone. You’ll never walk into your closet and wonder what to wear again! The best part is our supportive Facebook group where women swap shopping tips, post selfies and make real life friendships. It’s the kindest place on the internet!”
