I recently worked with Tonya from Designs by Tonya on a brand photoshoot for my blog and other things I might be working on. I am so happy with the photos and hope I can help you have an awesome brand photoshoot too.
Getting an excellent brand photoshoot for your business is a lot of work, but it’s worth the effort. This blog post will share how to have a fantastic brand photoshoot that will make your business shine! It doesn’t matter what kind of industry you’re in – these tips apply to any company.
Don’t forget to be yourself!
My number one tip is to be yourself and laugh a little (or a lot). The photographer will be spending some time with you, so make it easy on them! They are there to capture your brand in the best way possible. By being yourself, the photos will reflect your personality and your overall brand without much work.
For my brand shoot, I wore yellow because I love yellow, and the color is a part of my brand. I also brought a few of my favorite outfits similar to some of the clothing I wear daily. This helped me feel more comfortable in front of the camera, and it allowed my photographer to get different angles for each outfit without having to change clothes!
Another way to bring a little you into the brand photoshoot is by using props! For me, I love coffee and books, so why not bring them into my photoshoot? My photographer was more than happy to help me out with this. We brought in a few books, cups of coffee, and other props to bring me into the photos.
Don’t be afraid to think outside the box!
Instead of doing a typical studio brand shoot, I took photos in my home, my yard, and an outdoor location with palm trees.
Fun poses will also go far in your branding photoshoot. Your photographer should have ideas but also spend some time browsing interest for fun poses. If you’re nervous about being in front of the camera, try some poses out in front of the mirror.
Don’t forget to plan your outfit!
If you’re not a fashionista and do not know what to wear, it’s best if you go shopping/planning ahead of time. I’ve seen so many brand photoshoots where the person is wearing all black because they didn’t think about their outfit ahead of time. If you want to wear all black, that’s fine, but you don’t have to.
The most important thing about your outfits is to make sure you are comfortable in the clothes you wear. You need to be able to move around and feel good in what you’re wearing.
I wanted something that made me stand out from the rest of the crowd while still being fashionable. Wearing yellow brought a bright, joyful element to my photos, and I love what it communicates to the audience looking at my photos. For my second outfit, I did a simple white tee and jeans layered with a leather jacket for a few of the images.
Get Dolled Up!
Be sure to think about your hair and makeup. The morning of the shoot, I had my hair and makeup professionally done. This was the right move for me. If you are doing your own makeup and hair, take some time to watch some youtube tutorials for some tips and tricks.
Also, make sure your nails are groomed (especially if your hands will be the focus of photos). I don’t judge people for having chipped nails, but freshly manicured nails will look amazing in the photos.
If you don’t have the time or money to get your nails done, an easy way is to use press-on nails.
Ask for help!
Don’t forget to ask your photographer for help if you need advice on outfits, makeup, locations, and props. They are professional and are there to make sure you get the best images ever!
Don’t forget to have fun!!
If you’re not having fun, it’s going to show up in your photos. So make sure that everyone is smiling and laughing throughout the whole photoshoot!
