There’s not much we have to do in order to get ready for baby #2 except to pull some items out of storage. But as I evaluate what baby gear we do have, there are a few things I am looking to replace.
Getting Ready for Baby #2 with Newton Baby
This post is sponsored by Newton Baby. All pictures and opinions are my own.
One of the bigger items on our replace list is a crib mattress. The one that Rowan used, someone handed down to us and I will always be grateful for the generosity. But after Rowan used it for two years and had multiple leaking diapers (more than I can count), the mattress had seen better days.
So when Newton Baby reached out, I jumped at the chance to do a review because I was intrigued by all the features.
After taking some time with the mattress, I am so happy we get to use it with our next little babe.
Why I am sticking with Newton Baby Mattress
One thing that completely sold me on the mattress is the fact that Newton made their crib mattress 100% breathable. Rowan was a tummy sleeper from day one and in order for anyone to get any sleep, Rowan slept on my chest for months. A mama’s gotta do what a mama’s gotta do right?
Anyways, once we let Rowan sleep on his tummy, he slept so much better on his own. But even though Rowan was able to hold his head up and roll over, I still checked to make sure he was still breathing. I am even guilty of placing a gentle hand on Rowan’s back. The breathable feature of the Newton mattress will calm those late night is the baby still breathing fears. Even worried mamas can sleep better with Newton in the house.
The other issue that we had with the old mattress was the ease of washing. Type “how to wash crib mattress” into a search engine and you’ll get pages filled with steps and different DIY cleaning recipes. With Newton baby, washing is as easy as slipping the cover into the washing machine and the Wovenaire core into the shower.
Father approved too
Brady was the first one to take the mattress out of the box and he was instantly amazed by the quality. While the old mattress felt like plastic and that it could fall apart, the Newton Mattress not only looked, but felt like a high quality mattress. The cover is made with breathable spacer fabric and is quilted together creating a comfortable place to sleep. The foam core is 90% air and 10% food-grade polymer – we wish we could even sleep on it!
Last, but not least: Big Brother Approved
Rowan had to evaluate the mattress himself to make sure the mattress is suitable for his new baby sibling.
1: Make the bed
2: Get into bed
3: Get comfortable
Important notes:
- Do not use a waterproof cover. The cover would change the breathability feature of the mattress. Newton does sell extra covers, just in case there is a late night accident. [spacer height=”20px”]
- If you want to use sheets use muslin sheets like aden + anais. [spacer height=”20px”]
- The mattress does retail for $299 making it on the more expensive side. However, comparing it with the cheaper mattress the cost is well worth it. Newton does have a 100 night trial, so you can check it out risk free!
If you want to check out the crib mattress for yourself, head to Amazon or Buy Baby Buy !!
