The holidays have come and gone and my bump has grown. Somehow I am 17 weeks pregnant. Honestly, I don’t know where the last 17 weeks have gone. It’s hard to believe that in 20 weeks, the baby could be here. Rowan was born at exactly 37 weeks, so while we know this baby could come later, we are still preparing for the baby to come at 37 weeks too. If you haven’t read Rowan’s birth story, check it out here, not only did Rowan come out into the world early, he came quick!
Bump Update: 17 Weeks Pregnant
Currently:
How Far Along – 17 weeks
Symptoms – The month of December was hard though. I had a toothache that came and went. This caused me to have a loss of appetite since my teeth would be in pain. Apparently, it was a horrible cavity! I saw a dentist and found out that I also had a horrible infection as well. Four hours and a couple teeth pulled later, the toothache was gone and I felt almost normal again. My teeth were pulled the week before Christmas, just in time for holiday treats!
Otherwise, I am still dealing with being tired. The tiredness has been better since the first trimester, but its probably just because I have a wild toddler to take care of.
Weight Gain – Give or take 5 pounds.
Mood – We traveled home for the holidays and that was distracting. I’m still dealing with some anxiety regarding the baby. I had a miscarriage with my first pregnancy and it affects my level of excitement and peace of mind. Honestly, I sometimes have to remind myself that I am pregnant. With Rowan this anxiety seemed to leave after 1. finding out he was a boy and 2. the 20 week scan.
Life has been pretty busy though so there is a level of stress, but Rowan starts a preschool program next week to give me some time to work….in coffee shops…okay, I’ll probably still be home.
Food Cravings – Right now, I don’t really have any food cravings. I still favor salty over sweet (which is weird for me) and I could probably just eat fruit leathers the rest of my days.
Missing – Unlimited amounts of coffee. The holidays also had me missing being able to drink…5 more months to go! And I miss our Christmas tree in the corner of our living room. Anyone else miss Christmas?
Looking Forward To – When we were in Southern California, we bought new couches. They come sometime next week! Rowan goes to school on Monday and I have a midwife appointment. Can you believe I haven’t heard the heartbeat since 9 weeks? That probably doesn’t help my anxiety level.
This Week’s Happenings – Apparently according to The Bump, the baby is as big as a pomegranate. The comparison to food always makes me laugh.
