If you follow along on Instagram, you may have seen that I announced some big news! I’m pregnant! I haven’t shared that much on Instagram, except for the announcement and two bump photos (here and here), but here on the blog, I wanted to share more – maybe even over share! Read on below for my 12 week bump update!
Bump Update: 12 Weeks Pregnant
I was going to be 12 weeks on Thursday, November 30th, but surprise! During an ultrasound, we found out I’ve been pregnant longer than I thought. Okay, it’s not that exciting, but my due date moved up three days. So, I actually turned 12 weeks on Monday, November 27th. If you have read Rowan’s birth story, you already know that I gave birth at 37 weeks in a bath (by choice). So with my due date bumped up, I’m closer to my magical 37 week point that I need to reach in order to have a water birth again.
How I found out:
Looking back, how I found out makes more sense since my due date changed. I was getting ready to go over to my neighbor’s house for wine night and for some reason, I thought, maybe I should take a test even if I thought it would be too early to find out. I waited for the test to stay negative, it was 8 pm at night – and everyone knows that first thing in the morning works the best. But then, it turned positive and that little line was strong. Honestly, I was confused. I decided to take another test in the morning before telling Brady! Let’s just say, I didn’t drink that night!
When I took another test the next morning, I was still pregnant! Rowan was the first to know the news. He didn’t care.
How I told Brady:
Rowan and I went shopping that morning for the perfect item that would help tell Brady the big news. I thought I would keep it simple and buy a big brother book for Rowan to show Brady. My original plan was to have Rowan run up to Brady with the book when Brady walked through the door after work. But then I ended up picking Brady up from work that day for dinner. So, the plan changed. Instead of Rowan running up to Brady, I was going to have Rowan reading it when Brady got in the car. Rowan had other ideas and that idea failed. My last attempt was at bedtime. I set up the book on the chair in Rowan’s room and asked Brady to put Rowan to bed. Since I usually do bedtime with Rowan, Brady was a little confused.
After all the changing of plans, Brady was excited. It just took a journey in order to tell him.

The First Trimester:
When I’m Due: June 2018 – This week the due date was moved from June 14th to June 11th.
How I’m Feeling: Exhausted, mostly. For a few weeks, I felt nauseous in the late afternoon when I usually prep dinner. We had a lot of take out and Trader Joe’s frozen meals during this time. Otherwise, I just don’t feel 100%. I have started taking naps during Rowan’s nap time and that has been the game changer. Although, if I take a nap, I stay up late working. Could that be why I am so tired?
Food Cravings: In the beginning, all I wanted was chicken nuggets and fries. Now, I am all about goat cheese, warm naan bread, and veggies dipped in hummus. I have taken to making “cheese boards” at lunch. Makes for a pretty plate to eat from at nap time.
Physical Changes: I ended up buying side panel maternity jeans last week, even though my bump game isn’t that strong yet. This second baby has made themselves comfortable and I can no longer wear high waited jeans and breathe at the same time. I’ve gain two pounds so far. With Rowan, at 12 weeks, I think I had gained 6-7 pounds.

I didn’t document much during my pregnancy with Rowan except for bump photos every few weeks. So, I’m excited to share my pregnancy journey!
