It’s amazing what can happen in a short five years. At times, when I look back at the photos, its hard to believe we are still the same people. Anyways, I loved our wedding. So let’s take a journey back in time…and head to Bommer Canyon!
Bommer Canyon, Irvine, CA – June 30th 2012
It was 2012. We wanted to get married outdoors and not spend too much money. Isn’t that the dream? More so, because we lived in Orange County and if you know anything about the good ol’ OC, things are pretty costly.
Pinterest had just been released, but it was still in the early days. Good thing I have a PhD in googling.
Somehow, I stumbled on Bommer Canyon in Irvine, CA. The Bommer Canyon was still new in hosting weddings but from the photos that I saw, I knew we had to get married there.
Planning the Wedding a.k.a DIY for Six Months
We finalized on the location near the end of December 2012, so we had about six months for the wedding to come together. I will not take credit for the DIY. My mom literally did it all and I will be grateful always.
[spacer height=”20px”] My parents had to rent a U-Haul to transport all the decorations.
I was on an anti-flower kick in my early 20s. My wedding was no exception. I decided to use succulents when no one even knew what they were. Center pieces, my bouquet, and the boutonnieres were all created with succulents. For added color, we did add in some flowers. But overall, succulents stole the show.

And because cupcakes are life. My mom, aunts, and cousins decorated 900 cupcakes the day before the wedding. Oh and the cupcake stand, amazon might have made it, but my mom made it pretty.
See, my mom did everything. She’s the best.
The Wedding Attire
Since our wedding was outside at an old cattle ranch, we told guests they could wear anything they wanted. Seriously, guests showed up in shorts and that was perfectly fine. A lot of the men had suits in their cars since for some reason, they didn’t believe it.
Brady’s one demand for the wedding was for jeans. He wore dark straight leg Levis, a white dress shirt, a black vest, and shoes that we more expensive than any of the shoes that have ever been in my closet.
People ask me all the time, why the jeans? And honestly, why not? Brady expressed what he wanted and I ran with it. The wedding wasn’t just mine, the wedding was Brady’s too.
My dress was something that I never thought I would be in. I wore a very fluffy White by Vera Wang dress. My mom and I went to David’s Bridal one night because we were bored and watching tv when the $99 dollar sale commercial came on. We jumped in the car just to look.
Of course, I feel in love with the dress that wasn’t on sale. Doesn’t that always happen.
Ceremony
Funny story. Our ceremony started late because the boutonnieres were forgotten and then my mom realized the bouquets were missing too.
I was waiting in the back with no idea and asking everyone if we could just start.
The Party
We had Mexican food, Hawaiian guitar players, cupcakes, and a photo booth. Nothing too fancy or over the top. Just friends and family having a good time.
And that’s the beginning of our forever! If you made it this far, thanks for walking down memory lane with me.
