It’s that time of year again when Nordstrom slashes prices on everything your fall/winter wardrobe needs this upcoming season. Well, need is a strong word and honestly, I’m not a fan of the “OMG it’s the NSALE” fanfare.

But at the same time, I understand the hype of the sale, and I do not blame bloggers for sharing their finds. After all, fashion and lifestyle bloggers are just trying to do their job and the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has been around forever. The internet has only made it easier to shop and make it exciting.
I won’t lie, I have fallen prey to the hype. Sale prices have always been appealing to me, I mean, who doesn’t love a good sale?
But as I have started to think about fashion in a slower, more sustainable way, I have started to think maybe the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale isn’t all that it appears to be.
Will I still shop the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale? Maybe, I’ll buy one or two things.
But I have a few rules and expectations to follow before I add to cart.
Before I even look at the sale, I evaluate my current wardrobe. I try and figure out what I may need to add to make my wardrobe more versatile, what pieces I need to replace, and what may be fun to add. I am also considering fabric used in the construction of the item of clothing before I buy
I have made my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale wish list, and I’m thoughtfully considering each item before I add to the cart. Is there a possibility that something I want will sell out? Yes, but I’ll take that as a sign that the piece doesn’t belong in my closet.
These are some things I am considering or already own from the 2020 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.
- Zella Live In High Waist Leggings: My leggings are extremely old and stretched out. I have heard amazing things about these leggings.
- Madewell Remi Mule in Black: I have had my eye on these mules for years.
- BLANKNYC Good Vibes Faux Leather Moto Jacket: I finally bought a BLANKNYC Faux Leather jacket last year and I wore it with everything.
- Steve Madden Feather Loafer: I have owned these Steve Madden flats for years and they are definitely a go-to shoe for me.
- Lucky Brand Ellerey Lug Leather Bootie: These were paired with a dress that is also in the sale and I fell in love with the look. I’m not sure I’ll buy these particular white boots, but combat boots are going to be the “IT” item of the fall and winter season.
- Rails Collins Military Jacket: This is one of my more expensive wishes, but a lightweight military jacket is perfect for California winters and the one I have is in need of replacing.
- Faherty Bellamy Linen Cardigan: Another more expensive item on my wishlist, but this cardigan is 100% linen and is made by a sustainable brand.
