It’s Christmas time! What better way to celebrate the holiday season than by spreading some cheer. That is why I have compiled a list of 15 random acts of kindness that will help make this Christmas merry for everyone in your family.
Some of these are simple, while others might take more planning. Whatever you do, spread some kindness and joy this season.
Random Acts of Kindness Ideas
- Make thank you cards for your USPS, FedEx, and UPS delivery people. The holidays are such a busy season for them, and a handmade card will bring a smile to their faces. Go the extra mile and put out treats by your front door for the deviery drivers to grab!
- Buy a few bags of candy and leave them with a note in your neighbors’ mailboxes or by their front door. Make sure that the messages are anonymous so people won’t feel awkward about not giving back – it’s all about spreading joy, after all.
- Donate toys, clothes, and food to local charities or thrift stores.
- Donate to your local Ronald Mcdonald House – I have worked closely with the one local to me, and I love their mission. If you go to McDonald’s, you can always round up your total to donate to the Ronald McDonald House.
- Take your kids shopping for toys to donate to a toy drive near you. It’s an excellent way for them to understand the spirit of giving and make a difference in their community.
- Leave quarters at a laundry mat.
- Take a walk around your neighborhood and pick up trash.
- Let someone go in front of you in line at the store.
- Create a Christmas music playlist on Spotify and send it to friends and family. It’s a great way to spread holiday cheer!
- Donate store bought or home baked goods to your local fire station.
- Give old coats to a local coat drive for the unhoused.
- Give your time to the elderly by checking in on them or simply taking a walk with them.
- Make holiday cards for your local nursing home to spread cheer.
- Give a friend or family member an afternoon off by watching the kids, cooking dinner, cleaning up around the house – anything that will help them out!
- Volunteer at a food bank near you (this might be hard to do with local health restrictions, but it’s worth looking into)
